Frank Eugene Salka Sr., 86, of Bunola, passed away at home on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019. He was born March 9, 1933, in Bunola and was a son of the late John F. and Sophie M. Fetchen Salka. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Frank loved hunting at his cabin in Elk County and enjoyed gardening, flea markets, collecting priceless treasures and fixing anything. He loved to write songs and play his guitar. He is survived by his sons, Quentin Haigy, Frank E. (Tracey) Salka Jr., and Charles Owens of Bunola; daughters, Cynthia (Herb) Hamilton of Daybrook, W.Va., Crystal Grimes of Uniontown, Cherie (Ron) Kertis of Elizabeth Township and Connie (George) March of Bunola; brother, Theodore Salka of Bunola; sister, Agnes “Sissy” Leskus of Bethel Park; grandchildren, Jason, Britten, John, Kristopher, Kevin, Erin, Katie, Sam, Frank III, Dallas and Shanon; great-grandchildren, Riley, Toby, Jono, Dyson, Angelia, Emmalyn, Mia, Raelyn and Abby; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Masters Salka; grandson, Brandon Bell; companion, Cheryl Lee Owens; sisters, Mary Lewis, Helen Salka, Blanche Salka and Clare Krauss; and brothers, Michael, Joseph, Stanley “Tush”, Clarence and Walter “Buck” Salka. There is no visitation. Memorial service with military honors will be held at the Bunola Fire Hall on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Round Hill Food Pantry, 2150 Round Hill Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037, 412-754-1355.
