A portable skating rink that had been set up in front of the Elizabeth Township building in past years is getting community support.
Former township Commissioner Claire Bryce said she worked hard to bring the rink to the township and would like to see it set up again this year.
“It wasn’t put up last winter, and a lot of kids miss it,” Bryce said.
“I just think it’s a Norman Rockwell scene, the kids down there skating under the lights,” said resident Matt Ruskay.
Several other residents, including the president of the Elizabeth Forward Hockey Association, spoke in support of the rink being set up at the township building. Derek Medved, the hockey association president, said members of the association would be willing to volunteer time to help set up the rink, maintain it throughout the winter and provide monitoring services for the rink.
