Marjorie J. Miket, 97, of Whitehall (Canongate Apartments), passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Ecumenical Retirement Community, Harrisburg. She was born May 15, 1922, in Smithton. She was the daughter of the late Oliver T. and Maude Doran Bateman. She lived most of her married life in Monessen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph A. Miket, who passed away April 23, 2003; a daughter, Gloria Jean Miket, who passed away May 7, 2017, and four brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her son, James R. (Audrey) Miket of Harrisburg; one granddaughter, Martha J. (Randy) Freed of Perkasie, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Emile G. and Wyatt S. Freed, at home. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends were received at JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood on Sunday, Nov. 17. Funeral prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery and Mausoleum, 97 Sacred Heart Road, Monongahela. In lieu of flowers, Marjorie requested donations to St. Gabriel’s Building Fund, 5200 Greenridge Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 or the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
