Laura J. Niziolek, 98, of Donora, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at the Residence at Hilltop, Monongahela. She was born in Donora on Aug. 21, 1921, a daughter of the late George and Josephine Kawa Szymczyk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Niziolek; her son, Edward A. Niziolek; a granddaughter, Renee Brown; and four siblings, Jessie Vargo, Stella Wawrzynski, Edward Szymczyk and Frank Simchak. A lifelong resident of Donora, Laura was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church and the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. Laura worked for the Diocese of Pittsburgh as a bookkeeper. She loved to sew and bake. Her specialities were chocolate chip cookies and lemon squares. Laura was very family oriented and was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Kantor of Texas and Gerri Niziolek of Donora; two grandchildren, Marie Niziolek and Matthew Kantor; a special niece, Mary Anne Bandalo of Donora; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, 724-379-6900, where family and friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora.
