William Charles Downes – Stockdale

William Charles Downes, 59, passed away in his home in Stockdale on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, following a battle with liver and bile duct cancer. Born on Aug. 5, 1960, in Charleroi, he was a son of Charles R. and Virginia M. Densmsore Downes; both of whom are surviving. William is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Downes Lubawski and her husband Jessy of Pittsburgh; a step-son Patrick (Rita) Helmick of Delmont; two brothers, Tom (Patty) Downes of Dunlevy, Sam (GayLynn) Downes of Daisytown; two sisters, Kathleen Downes of Bentleyville and Jennifer (Terry) Todd of Roscoe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Jaqueline Downes in 2002. William was a 1978 graduate of California Area High School and spent most of his life as a forklift operator in the grocery industry working for Fox Grocery and Supervalu in Belle Vernon, and then employed most recently at Interstate Paper Supply Company in Roscoe. William loved listening to music and reading historical novels about the Civil War. ALL COUNTIES CREMATION SERVICES were entrusted with the final arrangements, which were private.
