Joe E. Gorecki, 91, of Charleroi, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019. Born on July 8, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kurty Gorecki. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War from 1948 – 1952 in Sasebo, Kobe and Tokyo. He was a retired industrial arts and history teacher for the Charleroi School District and was also an insurance agent for Franklin Life. He was a member of the Mon Valley Country Club for over 40 years and was an avid golfer with several trophies and four holes-in-one to his credit. He also enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and traveling as he spent the last 30 years in Ft. Lauderdale during the winter months. Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Didik Gorecki; daughter, Linda Jo (Augie) DiPasquale, of Glenshaw; sons, Joe T. (Judy) Gorecki, of Charleroi, and Doug Gorecki, of Dunlevy; brother, Elmer (Irene) Gorecki, of California; grandchildren, Angela (Joe) Laslavic, Dennis (Catlyn) DiPasquale, Rebecca (Ethan) Solak, and Amanda Gorecki; great-grandchildren, Gia and Dante Laslavic, and twins, Vita and Rocco DiPasquale; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Zurosky; and brother, Sam Gorecki. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mary, Mother of the Church, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
