North Belle Vernon officials are moving forward with the first phase of the borough’s streetscape project, with council setting an opening bid date and approving the first payment of the project at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The multi-phase project, which was announced in April, will run along Broad Avenue from Arch Street to Fayette Street. It will include new street lights, landscaping, safety measures and a new crosswalk.
Council unanimously approved awarding Mackin Engineers $5,040 to design phase one of the project, which includes new streetlights.
Deadline for council to receive opening bids from contractors is 4 p.m. Nov. 25.
The contractor with the winning bid has 45 days to start the project and an additional 100 days to complete phase one.
