Veterans honored in McKeesport

The City of McKeesport collaborated with McKeesport Area School District and the Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania on Monday to honor veterans in a big way.

The district, the city and the LaRosa Boys & Girls Clubhouse staff worked together on three separate Veterans Day events designed to thank those who have served or are actively serving in the United States military and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Veterans Day kicked off with Mc-Keesport Area High School’s annual Veterans Day Multimedia Concert.

The high school symphonic and jazz bands, concert and a cappella choirs and string orchestra joined forces with students studying multimedia and the use of audio/visual technology to put on a performance honoring veterans.

It featured live performances of patriotic songs by the students, along with multimedia technology to feature videos and slideshows containing images of great moments in American and U.S. military history. The videos were accompanied by remixed songs and spoken-word poems, and the images in them showed images such as U.S. forces storming the beaches of Normandy  during World War II, video footage from military victory parades, still images of well-known U.S. generals and photos from well-known battlefields where U.S. soldiers have fought.
