The morning of Nov. 2 was cold and frosty, but McKeesport Trail Commission volunteers and city administrators and workers were hard at work beautifying Renziehausen Park.
Together, the group worked to plant 15 trees near the trails that run through the park.
The day began at 9 a.m. with a tree planting instruction session presented by Alicia Wehrle and Matt Jenkins of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s “TreeVitalize Pittsburgh” program. After the seminar, volunteers were treated to breakfast, then went to work planting trees before eating a free lunch.
MTC president Linda Brewster and Jim Butler of the Tube City Renaissance of McKeesport group received a grant earlier this year through the conservancy to purchase the trees.
