Home of the brave: Mon Valley veterans honored with parade, luncheon

Thousands of people braved the chilly weather Saturday morning to show appreciation to true American heroes — though it may be impossible to honor them the way they have served our country.
As more than 100 groups and nine World War II veterans marched through Charleroi’s downtown, representatives and residents of all ages lined the streets, cheering and saluting those who passed.
Each year, the Mon Valley Veterans Parade attracts thousands of guests and hundreds of participants.
Communities from outside the Mon Valley as far north as Claysville and south as Connellsville participated.
