Evelyn L. Gearhart – North Belle Vernon

Evelyn L. Gearhart, 95, of North Belle Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, in Dunlevy Manor. A daughter of the late Howard M. and Ruth Greene Bollinger, she was born in Altoona on July 26, 1924.   She had been a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon, the United Methodist Women, served on the Pastor, Parish Relations committee, and had previously served in the church choir. Evelyn was also a member of the Eastern Star. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1984, she was formerly of Newton Hamilton, Pa. She retired in 1983, after 30 years with the Huntingdon Fiberglass Corporation. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved cooking. In 1942, she married her late husband in Lancaster, S.C. at Ft. Bragg prior to his deployment to Switzerland during World War II. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Gearhart of Belle Vernon; two grandchildren, David S. (Andrea) Gearhart of Bethel Park and Heidi (Mark) Kovscek of Brownsville; nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Sarah and Abram Gearhart, Hannah Kovscek (Andrew) Miller, Olivia, Emma, Nathanael, Ava and Gloria Kovscek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Gearhart, on June 12, 1989. Friends will be received on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.  at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating. Graveside services and burial will be in the Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Myfelt officiating.
