Brenda Marlene Sarah Hudock Kmetz, 79, of Star Junction, passed away peace-fully on Nov. 5, 2019. She was born May 13, 1940, in Star Junction in her family home, daughter of Martin “Mush” and Sarah Martha Pike Hudock. Her goal in life was to be “the best wife and mother that I could be and God gave me that with the best family I could ask for.” Apart from being a wonderful wife and mother, Brenda also worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years, owner and operator of the Cruisin Diner for 10 years, cooked at several restaurants, worked in the sewing factory at Perry, delivered newspapers, was a baby sitter for Dr. Bonucci’s daughters, worked at the Perry Drug Store and Gene & Boots. She also volunteered at bingo three times a week and provided hair care at the senior center. She also had her hand in the political forum with the Democratic Committee Women, as well as driving people to polls and to Central Committee. Brenda wanted to say a special thank you to Michele Kmetz and Nicole Kmetz, the most wonderful daughters-in-law in the world, Renee Harvey and Susie Battaligini, her wonderful nieces and Tammee Barch, “Thank You for all that you’ve done for me over the years.” Lastly, Brenda wanted to thank the medical staff of Dr. Tonkonow’s office, Mon Valley Hospital’s Oncology Department, Dr. Isaac and the radiation team, Ashley and Patty at OSPTA Hospice. She wouldn’t have made it without them! She is survived by her loving husband of 55 wonderful years, Paul John Kmetz, her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Nicole Kmetz, Brenden and Michele Kmetz, Matthew Kmetz and Tammee Barch; five grandchildren, Savannah Prue, Dalton Kmetz, Staci Kmetz, Paul Kmetz and Connor Kmetz; four nieces and nephews, Renee and Paul Harvey, Nicky and Nikki Petrus, Susie Battaligini and Brian Coleman and Bobby Petrus; great-nieces and great-nephews, Erica Harvey, Nicholas Harvey and Anthony and Mandy Battaligini; great-great-nephew, Camden Battaligini; and great-great-niece, Amaya Battaligini. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Petrus; brother-in-law, Nick Petrus; and brother, Larry Pike. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at the funeral home with the Rev. Efren Ambre officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Perryopolis, PA 15473.
