World War II veterans to lead Charleroi parade

More than 100 groups and nine World War II veterans will participate Saturday as Charleroi hosts the Mon Valley Veterans Day Parade. 

The nine veterans, Armand Lorenzi, Allan Q. Jones, Nora Villella, Joseph Picinotti, Austin Murphy, George Eckert, Andrew Uram, James Tucutich and Howard Hughes, are all serving as parade marshals. They will be honored  during an invitation-only luncheon at American Legion Post 22, where attorney Alan Benyak will serve as keynote speaker. 

Benyak previously served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in the Army.

The grand marshal for the parade is retired Marine Corps Brig. Gen. David Papak. 

Lineup will begin at noon at the site of the former Cougar Stadium on Second Street. The parade will get under way at 2 p.m.
