Serra Catholic’s girls cross country team finished as the 13th best Class A squad in the state at the PIAA championships Saturday in Hershey.

Making their first state meet appearance in program history, the Eagles earned the 13th place finish after compiling 295 points.

Ava Dzurenda led the way for Serra Catholic, crossing the finish line in 21:04 and finishing in 37th place. Dzurenda made her third straight appearance in Hershey and has built upon each of previous state championship performances. She finished 94th as a freshman in 2017 and came away with a 59th place finish as a sophomore last year.

Maya Poziviak finished second among Serra runners, placing 108th with a time of 22:27. Madison Carr placed 123rd after finishing with a time of 22:40. Other Serra finishers were Mary Sedlak (142nd, 22:56), Caroline Malandra (174th, 24:03), Madison Buhaly (206th, 27:40) and Mary Elizabeth Malandra (208th, 28:32).
