Several communities in southwestern Pennsylvania have decided to change the date and time of trick-or-treating because the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh has predicted a rainy Halloween night.
NWS Meteorologists are calling for a 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms tonight. Those same meterologists say a cold front will move through the area tonight and predict a high of 68 degrees and a low of 35. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph are expected tonight, according to NWS.
Here is a list of Mon Valley communities that have reported changes to their trick-or-treat times and dates:
• Bentleyville — 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday
• Charleroi — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday
• Clairton — 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday
• Dravosburg — 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday
• Fallowfield Township — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday
• North Huntingdon — 6 to 8 p.m. Friday
• North Charleroi — 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday
Mon Valley communities that confirmed as of presstime Wednesday that they are still planning to hold trick-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight are: the boroughs of East McKeesport, Elizabeth, Finleyville, Glassport, Liberty, Lincoln, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, Port Vue and Versailles; Elizabeth, Forward, North Versailles, South Park and Union townships and the City of McKeesport.
The Donora Halloween parade, which was originally slated for 5 p.m. this evening, has been canceled. The borough has not announced a rescheduled date for the parade. A roller skating party, sponsored by the Donora Smog Commemorative Committee, will be held at the Valley Skating Center, 590 Galiffa Drive in Donora, will still be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. Admission is free for all children 12 years and younger. Adults can pay an admission fee of $5, which includes skate rental.
No further updates or changes to trick-or-treat schedules were available prior to presstime.
