The WPIAL released the 2019 WPIAL football championship brackets for all six classes Monday during its annual pairings meeting at the DoubleTree hotel in Greentree.
Of the eight local teams qualified for the postseason, half of them will be hosting home games Friday.
In a big change, that a lot of people didn’t see coming, the WPIAL aligned with most of its member schools in moving up the start times for postseason play to 7 p.m.
Only a handful of teams still played games with 7:30 kickoffs.
In Class 5A, the McKeesport Tigers (7-3) were awarded with the No. 6 seed and drew No. 11 Baldwin (5-5) for a Friday kickoff.
