Plans are brewing for a student-run coffee shop inside Belle Vernon Area High School.

Principal Dr. Michael Sable and assistant principal Heath Curran are developing plans for a self-sufficient coffee shop for students to learn design, marketing and job skills.

Sable and Curran said in a presentation at Tuesday’s agenda meeting that a relationship has already formed with Perked Up Cafe in Charleroi to acquire the proper equipment and training.

“We never really thought it would be something we would do this year, but we are opening up a coffee shop where the Keurig station is,” Curran said. “I know some other schools have done something like this, and I knew we’d have to get sponsors.”
