It’s hard to find silver linings when your team gets shut out and beaten handily in the first round of the playoffs.
There was, however, an astounding performance from at least one Ringgold girls soccer player Monday night.
Kiski Area (13-4) scored two goals in the first five minutes and went on to defeat the Rams, 11-0, in a WPIAL Class 3A first-round playoff game on the winners’ field.
But the lopsided score wasn’t an indication of how well Ringgold (8-11) goalkeeper Kylee Pry played. She made an unbelievable 35 saves to keep the score from being worse.
“She’s a phenomenal goaltender,” said Rams head coach Olivia Wilkerson. “Her future is very bright and it’s whatever she wants it to be.
“It’s going to be tough to fill her shoes next year. The girls know it, I know it and the goalkeepers coming up know it. They have had a few opportunities to work with her and she’s willing to teach them and leave her footprint.”
