Despite watching them win 16 games along with a Section 2-A championship during the regular season, Bentworth head coach Tyler Hamstra figured he’d see his group take things to another level come playoff time.

One playoff game down and Hamstra is more than pleased with what he saw.

The second-seeded Bearcats put together what their veteran coach thought was their most complete effort of the season Monday night as they rolled to a 6-1 victory over No. 15 Mohawk in a WPIAL Class A first-round matchup at Upper St. Clair.

“We looked like a good soccer team tonight,” Hamstra said. “I don’t think many people would have thought that was a Class A team out there. I thought we played good soccer and I think we just have to keep building on that. I always thought we were peaking at the right time.”
