“We’ve come too far. We’ve been through too much. Our team is too special for this to be over.”

That was the message Belle Vernon Area head coach Rob Miele shared on social media prior to Saturday’s WPIAL Class 3A first-round matchup with Indiana.

The message seemed to be well-received by the fourth-seeded Leopards as they advanced to the WPIAL quarterfinals for the second time in three seasons with a 1-0 victory over No. 13 Indiana at James Weir Stadium.

“We’ve been saying it all season, I don’t know if these guys realize anything that they’ve done,” said Miele, who helped lead a young BVA team to a Section 3-3A championship this season.

“I don’t think they realize they’re now 17-1 and I don’t know if they realize they were section champs when they weren’t supposed to be, but hopefully they realize now that we’re here and we’ve arrived.”
