Serra Catholic and Seton LaSalle both had playoff hopes entering Friday’s game, but only the Eagles left the field with their chances intact.
Serra Catholic had one of its best offensive showings of the season and capitalized on several Rebels’ mistakes in a 41-6 victory in Class 2A Three Rivers Conference action.
The Eagles (5-4, 3-3) now control their destiny and can earn a playoff spot with a win at Fort Cherry in the regular season finale next week.
Ray Holmes led Serra’s offense with 151 yards on 33 carries with two touchdowns.
The Eagles also blocked two Rebel (2-6, 2-4) punts, forced three turnovers and scored on special teams.
“We’re gelled a little bit more and guys are maturing as the season goes on,” Serra Catholic head coach Jose Regus said. “We’re coming along pretty well. We’re not where we want to be yet, but we’re coming along.”
