EF overcomes errors to top Uniontown

Good teams find ways to win bad games. That’s what Elizabeth Forward did Friday night.

Overcoming a slow start, the Warriors continued their march into the WPIAL playoffs with a 28-0 win over Uniontown in a Class 3A Big East Conference matchup at Warriors Stadium.

Despite five fumbles, one that was recovered by the Red Raiders, and a pair of interceptions, the Warriors won every facet of the football game to claw their way to victory.

A pair of offensive touchdowns — a 23-yard pass from Nico Mrvos to Jacob Prah in the second quarter and an Evan Lewis 3-yard run in the fourth quarter —served as bookends to a special teams touchdown and a defensive score for the Warriors (6-2, 5-2).

“We just didn’t execute much of anything tonight,” EF coach Mike Collodi said. “You get the ball inside the red zone three times and get nothing out of it, that’s not a good thing.

“For whatever reason it was, though, we kept pushing.”
