McKeesport officials and city employees along with students from the University of Pittsburgh will spend Saturday cleaning up litter and debris in and around the city’s Grandview neighborhood.

They’re inviting area residents and Pitt alumni to join in the effort for “Pitt Make A Difference Day.”

Volunteers and dozens of Pitt students will begin the day at Beulah Park United Methodist Church, which is part of the McKeesport Area Ministerium and is located at 1615 Grandview Ave. They will meet at 9:30 a.m. for coffee, doughnuts and an orientation.

Mayor Michael Cherepko said volunteers will then be split into groups and will pan out in the neighborhood between Grandview Avenue and Cornell Street to clean up litter and debris “on as many side streets as we can.”

“We are being very ambitious,” he said.
