Ringgold reluctantly pays architect bill

Representatives of Ringgold School District’s longtime architectural firm didn’t need to be in the room to draw the ire of school board members at last night’s meeting.
Last month, the board expressed anger and frustration with HHSDR Architects and Engineers in general and engineer John Carly in particular because he was representing the firm in person at the meeting.
HHSDR submitted a change order to the district seeking $22,591 more than the original bid price of $591,650 for renovations of the baseball field.
The extra cost is attached to the installation of empty electrical conduits underground while the field was dug up so in the future, lighting could be added more easily. That portion of the project was supposed to have been included in the original bid package and the board believed it was.
Carly told the board last month it had been mistakenly left out of the bid and so had the cost of the work.
