The Ringgold boys soccer team ended its regular season playing up in class against a struggling Peters Township team Tuesday at Joe Montana Stadium.
Usually a perennial soccer power, the Indians have had a rough year, but the Rams were unable to take advantage in a physical 1-0 loss.
The Indians (5-9-3) scored the game’s only tally in the 71st minute on a header by Anthony Kita.
Ringgold (10-8) was hoping for a different outcome, looking to gain momentum heading into the weekend’s first-round playoff games. But head coach Steve Persaud liked what he saw from his team and believes the Rams will be ready for the start of the tournament.
“I thought we played a good game, it took us a little while to settle down in the first half but we played good,” said Persaud. “We had some opportunities, we dribbled the ball a little too much or we would have gotten more shots off.
“I’m happy with the way we played. I think we’re ready for the playoffs. This is as ready as I’ve had a team play.”
