A boil water advisory will remain in place until at least through this morning for McKeesport, Port Vue, White Oak and Versailles residents.
The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County announced around 10 a.m. Monday that the first set of samples “that could count towards lifting a boil water advisory are being taken now.”
An MAWC public service announcement stated that the tests take 24 hours to show results and that more tests would be taken around 2 p.m. Monday.
MAWC announced Saturday that residents in the area should boil their water until further notice.
“We routinely monitor the conditions in the distribution system,” an MAWC release states. “On Oct. 12, we experienced a loss of positive water pressure due to mechanical issues. A loss of positive water pressure is a signal of the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through back-flow by back pressure or back-siphonage. As a result, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms.”
