Barbara E. Nicolaus, 77, of Fredericktown, formerly of Monessen, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, in The Residence at Hilltop. She was born on Jan. 12, 1942 in West Pike Run Township, the daughter of the late Raymond and Siama Wilson Grimes. Barbara was a 1959 graduate of California High School and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked as a rural carrier in the Charleroi area. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, St. Leonard’s Roman Catholic Church in Monessen and Court 776 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She is survived by three sons, Keith (Patricia) Nicolaus of Du Bois, Lawrence Raymond (Sandy) Nicolaus of Virginia Beach, Va., and Daniel Lee (Dawn) Nicolaus of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Jennifer (Anthony) Vito of Bentleyville; brother, Harvey Grimes of Austintown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Lauren Nicole (Adam) Berard, Kristen Marie Nicolaus, Ashley (Patrick) Mehok, Kelly Lynn Nicolaus, Jenna Nicole Vito, Maria Ann Vito, Daniel Lawrence Nicolaus, Jacob Ryan Nicolaus, Lucas August Nicolaus and Vincent Anthony Vito; great-grandchild, Cameron Mehok; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence “Larry” Nicolaus; three brothers, William, Leslie and Ralph Grimes; and two sisters, Doris Grimes and Joanne DeVore. Friends will be received in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
