William C. Ryan, 83, of Monongahela, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. Born July 14, 1936, he was the son of the late William and Daisy Bell Ryan. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bill was a brick mason and cement finisher by trade and retired from the Frank Irey Construction Co. in Monongahela. He was a member of the Slovak Club in Monongahela and Carroll Township American Legion No. 949. Surviving are a son, Charles Ryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Tawny and husband Mark Hyslop, all of Monongahela; eight grandchildren, William, James, Briana, Tyler and Brandon Ryan, Michele and Wesley Hyslop and Brooklynn Boyd; four great-grandchildren, Lacey and Corey Ryan, Jaxon Hyslop and Amia Adkins; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Ryan of Donora; and his former wife, Ruth Ryan of Monongahela. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Maggie Cain Ryan, who died Jan. 14, 1997; his son, William R. “Goober” Ryan Sr., who died Nov. 3, 2017; his longtime companion, Donna Gorby, who died in May 2018; a granddaughter Kylie Ryan, who died as an infant; and two sisters, Helen Young and Stella Sheperd. Friends are asked to meet at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville with services beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, with Pastor Brent Furlong officiating, followed by a celebration of Bill’s life beginning at noon at the Carroll Township American Legion, Park Avenue Extension, Monongahela. The Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad will be conducting military honors in the cemetery. Contributions can be made to Via Quest Hospice, 610 Park Ave., Monongahela, PA 15063.
