A Belle Vernon man is accused of shooting a dog during a birthday party in Monessen earlier this month.
James Victor Scirotto, 46, allegedly fired seven shots from a Glock .40 handgun the night of Oct. 1 at a dog that was running loose at the party on Marion Avenue, police said.
Police responded to a call for a man firing shots and encountered Scirotto walking from Hillcrest Avenue back toward the birthday party. Police said they determined Scirotto was the one who fired the shots and confiscated the weapon, which he allegedly stuffed in the front of his pants.
Scirotto allegedly told police the dog was running loose and barking at people at the party.
