Shirley A. Gottke, 91, of Charleroi, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019. Born on June 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosina Loftus. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church and the Christian Mother’s, along with the Big Bend Boat Club. She attended Washington School of Nursing and belonged to the nursing club until it disbanded. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the old Charleroi- Monessen Hospital, for various local doctor’s offices, and finally for the Southwestern PA Area Agency on Aging. She was very proud to have published several papers on aging and she was the founder of the “agency van”, which traveled to various locations to provide mobile care. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Patricia Jo (Robert) Miller, of Clarksburg, W. Va., and LuAnne (Andrew) Abraham, of Uniontown; son, Michael (Dana) Gottke, of Allenport; grandchildren, John (Lindsay) Crowley, Kevin Crowley, Jodi (Eric) Porter, Seth (Nicole Murphy) Abraham, James (Ashley Fosbrink) Horrell, and Tyler Gottke; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nate Porter, and Keagan and Harper Crowley; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Louis E. Gottke; and brother, Jack Loftus. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, October 13 in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Monday at Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi, with interment following in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
