Josephine Kontaxes Nabozny, 89, of Charleroi, died on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Hallsworth House, Monessen. Born on Feb.17, 1930, in Monessen, she was a daughter of the late Peter S. and Mary Flora Kontaxes. A lifelong resident of Charleroi, Mrs. Nabozny was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen. She was a seamstress for Charland Sportswear and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her sister, Irene Fafalios of Carroll Township; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas “Mo” and Dana Nabozny of Fallowfield Township and Stan and Catherine Carlson Nabozny of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson, Zachary Nabozny; step-grandson, Ethan Carlson and his daughter Anna; close friend, Claudia Kelley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Bessie Capiotis and Kathrine Besedick; and two brothers, Nicholas Kontaxes and Steve Kontaxes. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Relatives and friends will gather for services at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen. Interment will take place in Grandview Cemetery.
