North Belle Vernon council is considering changing the billing methods for trash collection services.
During Tuesday’s meeting, Councilmen Brett Berish, Geoffry DeWitt and Jack Curran and Councilwomen Barbara Day and Paula Usher discussed the possibility of sending residents and businesses one garbage bill per year. Councilmen Jon Wasicek and Robert J. Sokol and Mayor Craig Ambrose were absent.
Curran said residents currently get bills of around $86 twice per year, once in January and once in July. He said council is considering narrowing that so residents would receive one billing statement in January for $165.
Berish said residents would still have the option to pay their individual bills in two payments.
