Monongahela restaurant’s decorations get national attention

The owners of Angelo’s II in Monongahela have truly outdone themselves.

You probably remember Santa peering — a bit mischievously —  from the restaurant’s rooftop last Christmas, overlooking a 17-foot lit Christmas tree.

This spring, a towering Easter Bunny held court over Mon City.

As Halloween draws near, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man has taken up residence atop Angelo’s II and he now looms over Monongahela.

“Ghostbusters” movie fans know that Ray Stantz accidentally chose the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man as “the form of the destructor,” but the mind behind the massive green-tentacled monster reaching from the Main Street restaurant belongs to Peter Dzimiera.

The hulking beast in the midst of town has created a buzz that you might say is about the size of a Twinkie, if it were 35 feet long and weighed about 600 pounds.
