McKeesport seeks participants for Christmas parade

It may seem a little early to start thinking about the Christmas season, but McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko and the city’s recreation board are doing just that.
Santa Claus will visit and bring gifts to more than a billion children around the world this holiday season, but Cherepko said the man in the bright red suit “loves” to make an annual stop in McKeesport to figure out if kids in the city are being naughty or nice.
That’s why the city is planning the 55th annual Salute To Santa Parade, which will kick off at 11 a.m. Nov. 23, rain, snow or shine.
The mayor said the committee is seeking elected officials, businesses and nonprofit, student and community organizations to walk, ride/drive in or make a float for the parade.
