Leopards wrap up section championship

Belle Vernon Area’s teamwork was on display Monday as the Leps wrapped up the Section 2-3A title with an 8-1 victory over Greensburg Salem.
BVA’s Jillian Butchki notched a personal best, scoring five goals. Farrah Reader tallied two scores and Autumn Forte added one for the Leopards. Morgan Einodshofer contributed four assists.
BVA coach Tracy Lovett set three goals before starting the season. Winning the section crown and making the playoffs were two of those goals, but the Leps still have more work to do.
“Our next goal is to be undefeated section champs, I am really proud of what the girls have done,” Lovett said. “I think they have done it in a team atmosphere. We have 94 goals as a team and I have multiple girls who have scored.
“We have our top three scorers in Butchki, Einodshofer and Reader, but I also have goal scorers spread all around.”
