Vero Beach, Fla.
Jon Seth Mahalingappa, 40, of Vero Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 after a long illness. A native of Belle Vernon, Jon was a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and Penn State, from which he received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Passionate about politics, Jon worked mainly in politics and for political causes. A cat lover who appreciated all animals, Jon was also a valued volunteer with animal rescue organizations. Several years ago, Jon moved to Fla., to fulfill his dream of living somewhere warm. He loved the community he found in Vero Beach. Jon is survived by his mother, Patricia (Cordaro) Mahalingappa of Douglassville, Pa.; his three sisters, Jessica (Corey Michaud) Mahalingappa of Takoma Park, Md., Jennifer Mahalingappa of Bethesda, Md., and Laura (Nihat Polat) Mahalingappa of Pittsburgh; his beloved niece and nephews, India Michaud, Seth Michaud, and Zachary Polat; his aunt Anne Hilbert (Robert) of Boyertown, Pa.; his uncle, James Sassaman; and a host of cousins. Jon was preceded in death by his father, Dr. C. Mahalingappa; his two brothers, Tilak Mahalingappa and Andrew Mahalingappa; and his aunt, Johanna Sassaman. Friends will be received on from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Dr., Rostraver Township 724-929-7934 www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a Blessing Service will be held on 11 a.m., Friday with the Rev. James F. Bump officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org or For The Love of Paws www.pawspetsanctuary.org, the last shelter where Jon volunteered.
