There are three weeks remaining in the high school football regular season.
Some teams around the WPIAL have already locked up playoff berths and others are long out of any postseason hopes.
However, in the Tri-County South Conference, California and West Greene don’t have to worry about whether or not they will make the playoffs.
In all probability, the conference title will be decided tonight when California travels to Rogersville to take on West Greene.
The Trojans (4-2, 3-0) and Pioneers (6-0, 5-0) will put their unbeaten conference marks on the line in the 7 p.m. showdown. And while the winner won’t officially clinch the crown, it would take a stunning development to prevent it.
“This is the kind of game, as a coach or a player, you long to play in,” said Cal first-year coach Ed Woods. “It’s why you work so hard during the summer and during the season. It’s going to be a great atmosphere for high school football.”
