Zoning changes that could affect many Washington Township residents may soon be passed by township supervisors.
The current zoning ordinance, which divides the township into different areas and specifies where and how various things can be built, is more than 50 years old.
Township Supervisor Jan Amoroso said the ordinance had not been updated since 1966.
The update would bring the ordinances up to date to coincide with the township’s comprehensive plan that was passed last year.
“This is something that should have been done a long time ago,” she said. “A lot of the items in the old ordinance are just too outdated. There are also things happening now that weren’t back then that we need to have policies and regulations for.”
