Local golfers fall short at Individual Championships

Neither Belle Vernon Area’s Jake Caldwell or Thomas Jefferson’s Noah Pierce qualified in the WPIAL AAA Individual Golf Championship at Fox Chapel Golf Club Monday.
However, both players felt they didn’t play as bad as their scores indicated. And after reaching the WPIAL championships, they offered no apologies.
Caldwell shot a 12-over-par 82, finishing tied for 26th on the 6,696-yard par 70 course. Pierce wasn’t much better, finishing 25th with an 81.
Scott Bitar, a senior at Fox Chapel, ran away with the title, shooting a 4-under 66 on his home course. Runner-up Alex Turowski of Penn-Trafford finished with a 2-over 72.
