Thomas Edward Burnworth – Monongahela

Thomas Edward Burnworth, 71, Monongahela, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Aug. 3, 1948, in New Eagle, the son of Edward “Van” and Virginia “Ginny” Howard Burnworth. Tom retired from U.S. Steel, Irvin Works and was the former owner of Tommy B’s in New Eagle. He was also a former member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) Chapter E of Belle Vernon. Tom and his wife, Jody, spent the past few years volunteering their time with the National Park Service, Gulf Islands National Seashore in Pensacola, Fla. Tom enjoyed golfing and especially loved playing cards with his family on weekends. He is survived by his wife, Jody Williams Burnworth, with whom he celebrated 13 years of marriage on Aug. 26, 2019; two daughters, Danielle Wateska of New Eagle, Sami Burnworth of Monongahela; three grandchildren, Saundra Gallo, Joseph and Kari Laski; three great-grandchildren, Joey, Madi, Matt and one on the way; brother, Edward “Van” (Marcella) Burnworth Jr. of Paris, Ohio; four sisters, Rachel Costa, Virginia (Pete) Jurofcik, all of New Eagle, Billi Jo (David) Prolenski of Clairton, Martha (Clark) McQuiston of Minerva, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Locke Burnworth, who died July 31, 2005; and his son, Monty Burnworth, who died Nov. 12, 2006. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held on 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
