George W. ‘Mush’ Batton – Belle Vernon

George W. “Mush” Batton, 67, of Belle Vernon, died on Sept. 25, 2019, in his home. A son of the late George Batton and Marie Marshall Campbell, he was born on Nov. 20, 1951. A resident of Belle Vernon for over 40 years, he previously lived in Valparaiso, Ind. A former member of the Belle Vernon Musical Society, Mush was loved by many on Broad Avenue. He was employed at the former Koppers Industries in Monessen and had worked for Shoaf’s Sanitation. He is survived by two sons, William A. “Bill” Batton and Scott Christopher Batton, both of Belle Vernon; his ex-wife, Winnie Wassilchalk, also of Belle Vernon; one niece, Tammy Brabo; and one nephew, Alan Batton. Friends will be received 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Donald Glunt, pastor of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, officiating. Private inurnment will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
