Beverly’s Birthdays brings parties to children in need

Beverly’s Birthdays founder Megs Yunn says there are children in the Pittsburgh area, and even in the Mon Valley, who have never had a birthday party or even a slice of their own birthday cake.

Yunn founded Beverly’s Birthdays in 2011 after meeting a young girl, Beverly, who never had a birthday party of her own. Yunn threw Beverly a party and then decided to start a nonprofit organization that provides birthday celebrations for homeless children in the Pittsburgh region.

North Huntingdon-based Beverly’s Birthdays has grown since then and participates in numerous birthday-themed celebrations with and for various organizations and causes in the region.

On Tuesday, Beverly’s Birthdays will join forces with Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport, Olympia Coin Laundry, Allegheny County Library Association, Libraries Without Borders, Pennsylvania WIC, WQED-TV and PBS Kids to present the Wash & Learn Fall Pop-up Birthday Celebration.
