In the game of football, there are plenty of times when the bounces go your way and when they don’t.
Friday was a night they went Charleroi’s way.
A couple of lucky bounces in the second half helped the Cougars pull away from visiting Beth-Center for a 27-8 Interstate Conference win at Myron Pottios Stadium.
Holding a slim 13-8 lead right after Beth-Center finally found the end zone, Charleroi’s Nikko Pellegrini fumbled on a run from the Bulldogs’ 13-yard line. Pellegrini fumbled at the 5, and Beth-Center’s Christopher Cramer fell on the ball, pushing it into the end zone, where Charleroi receiver Ethan Codeluppi became “Johnny on the spot,” falling on the loose ball for a Cougars’ touchdown. He also picked up his fifth interception of the season.
