George Edward Kelly – Monessen

George Edward Kelly, 79, of Monessen, formerly of Monongahela, died on Sept. 25, 2019, at Shady-side Hospital. He was born on Feb. 11, 1940, to the late Charles and Goldie Schultz Kelly. George was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as an Army Ranger and was honorably discharged in 1961. He loved watching all sports and spending time with his family. He was an avid trivia game player and loved going to the casino. His personality was endearing and his smile was infectious. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Genine Prosser of Belle Vernon; two sons, George Canzonieri and friend
Robin Candelario of Monessen, and Byron “Mike” Kelly of Belle Vernon; one sister, Jean Ashbaugh of Perryopolis; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, David, Tony, Allen, Angelica and Morgan; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, cousins and friends. George was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Kelly in 2008; siblings Charles and Patrick Kelly, Albert Charlton; and one son, William S. Ray “Chris.” Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday Sept. 30, 2019, at Orchard Church, 721 Schoonmaker Ave, Monessen. At 7 p.m., a service will be held with Pastor Rev. John Custer giving the eulogy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA, 15062, 724-684-4877, Trudy L. Taylor, funeral director, in charge.
