Thomas Jefferson remained unbeaten and put an end to Elizabeth Forward’s six-game winning streak with a 3-0 sweep of the host Warriors in Section 3-3A volleyball action Tuesday.

The Jaguars (8-0, 7-0), ranked No. 2 in Class 3A according to the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association, picked up set victories of 25-19, 25-18 and 26-24.

Despite taking the loss, the Warriors (6-2, 5-2), ranked No. 7 in 3A, didn’t make it easy on head coach Ron Kelly’s Jaguars

“This is their home gym; they were excited and this is a rivalry and they add things,” Kelly said. “We played them on Saturday and I think they saw some of the things we did and adjusted a little bit.

“It’s always good to get a win and it’s even better considering they’re in the top 10 and it’s at their place. It puts us in the driver’s seat going into the second half of section play.”
