Susan H. Hays Haburchak – Monongahela

Susan H. Hays Haburchak, 96, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. Born March 13, 1923, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of William and Susanna Sarnosky Hays. A homemaker, Susan was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, formerly St. Anthony Church, in Monongahela and had belonged to its Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. She enjoyed volunteering her time with the St. Vincent de Paul Society food bank in Monongahela and had been nominated in 2005 by the Ginger Hill Grange for its Community Service Citizen of the Year Award. In 2008, she was named the Monongahela Elks woman of the year. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Corless Haburchak of Monongahela; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Mario Tarabrella of Monongahela, Carroll Township; three grandchildren, Thomas (Rose) Trunzo, Jill (Jim) Urban and Theresa (Don) McMahon; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Sierra and Paige Trunzo, Timmy and Catie Urban and Maisie and Donovan McMahon; a sister, Ann Lenik of Finleyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, John P. Haburchak, who died Oct. 19, 2010; a grandson, Timothy Jon Trunzo; two brothers, Joseph and William Hays; and two sisters, Mary (Alphonse) Ritmanich and Albina (William) Mutschler. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela with Father Patrick Barkey as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Memorial contributions can be made in Susan’s name to Heartland Hospice, 3520 Route 130, Building 3, Irwin, PA 15642.
