Much to the chagrin of Charleroi girls head coach Traci Fleming, her Cougars will not actually be heading to Walt Disney World this week.
But that’s the type of celebration they’re having after Monday’s 3-2 win at Monessen.
All kidding aside, it was the Cougars’ first win of the season and a big boost in morale for the team. The only other win in the column for Charleroi came on a forfeit after Geibel’s team folded.
“We needed that,” a relieved Fleming said after the game. “We’re playing with some injuries and we have girls out there that haven’t even stepped foot on the field as a high school soccer player. I couldn’t be prouder of the way they played today, especially in the second half.”
