Monessen makes progress on rats

By Mon Valley Independent

Monessen residents dealing with excessive rodent problems have already seen results since the city’s intervention last Friday.

Several people who live on Aliquippa Avenue attended last week’s Monessen City Council meeting with photographic evidence of a rat infestation.

“I think things are under control,” said Judith Taylor, Monessen city administrator. “I think we did abate the intensity of the situation and I think that we’ll be more successful. We will continue.”

Aliquippa Avenue residents confirmed that the situation has improved. Lori Essey said she used to see several rats on the sidewalk during the day, but now there are none.

“From what we saw last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with them actively running up and down the sidewalk, we have not seen that now,” Essey said.
