The Belle Vernon Area girls soccer team used a very workmanlike performance Monday night to beat Greensburg Salem, 5-0, and remain in first place in Section 2-3A.
The Leps (4-0, 5-1) received offensive production in the form of two goals apiece from Morgan Einodshofer and Jillian Butchki, while Farrah Reader pitched in a goal and two assists. The Leps dominated possession and picked up their fourth shutout of the young season.
“I truly felt that the score did not tell the full story of the game tonight,” said first-year Belle Vernon coach Tracy Lovett. “We maintained possession and generated many solid scoring opportunities. We have been working on that at practice, keeping possession, working the ball out of the back and not forcing the play.”
Einodshofer got BVA’s first goal at the 33:35 mark of the first half. She took a feed from Reader, who made a nice move down the right side, and tapped in a one-timer past Golden Lions goalie Erika Christeleit for the 1-0 lead.
