History of McKeesport on display in film

By Mon Valley Independent

By JIM BUSCH

For the MV Independent

The Carnegie Library of McKeesport will present an encore screening of “Missing McKeesport” at 2 p.m. Sunday.

An earlier screening of the film, which documents McKeesport’s days as a booming commercial and industrial city, was so well received that the library staff scheduled this encore presentation.

The film will be shown in the lower level of the main library, which is located at 1507 Library Way, just off Versailles Avenue. The program is free, but reservations are suggested. Reservations can be made by calling the library at 412-672-0625 or online at www.mckeesportlibrary.org.

The film was created by photographer and documentary filmmaker Sam Zolten, who grew up in McKeesport. Though he has lived in the Philadelphia area for more than 50 years, he still considers himself a McKeesporter.
